Project Melo and UBS Optimus Foundation Hong Kong have joined forces to launch the UBS x Melo Social Challenge, a program aimed at addressing pressing environmental issues in Hong Kong. This collaborative initiative will empower small teams of young individuals to work alongside company CEOs and climate experts to develop innovative solutions. The teams will present their concepts at the Melofest impact summit in June 2024, where the winning team will receive seed funding to implement their proposed solution.
Maggie Luk, CEO at Project Melo, emphasized the shared commitment to nurturing responsible leaders capable of tackling complex challenges and making a lasting difference in Hong Kong’s society. Ming Geng, Head of Social Impact and Philanthropy at UBS for Greater China, highlighted the foundation’s aim of driving systemic impact, particularly for young people, and addressing thematic priority areas such as education empowerment and climate change.
Melofest serves as a platform for innovative youth leadership, facilitating collaboration between C-level executives and young voices for meaningful impact. The event will feature various activities over two days, including joint discovery sessions, competitions, panel discussions, and more, fostering meaningful interactions and idea exchange between CEOs and students.
UBS Optimus Foundation is an independent foundation that enables UBS clients to use their wealth for positive social and environmental change, focusing on improving children’s health, education, protection, and addressing environmental and climate issues. Project Melo, a non-profit social enterprise, aims to establish a mentorship network between university students and CEOs to co-create impactful projects for Hong Kong’s society.
