CIBC has announced the launch of two new AI-driven tools: CIBC AI for its team members and GitHub Copilot for its developer community, aimed at enhancing productivity and aligning with the bank’s client-centric strategy.
CIBC AI is a state-of-the-art Generative AI platform designed to drive innovation and efficiency throughout the organization. Custom-built by CIBC, this tool leverages multiple advanced language models to assist team members with automating routine tasks, allowing them to focus on higher-value, client-focused activities. For instance, it can quickly summarize documents, generate post-meeting support materials, and help draft emails and other text-based content.
“We are committed to integrating Generative AI tools thoughtfully to advance our client-focused strategy,” said Dave Gillespie, Executive Vice-President of Infrastructure, Architecture, and Modernization at CIBC. “Our structured governance framework ensures that we deploy AI tools effectively to boost productivity and create new opportunities for stakeholder engagement.”
The pilot phase of CIBC AI, launched in late July, involves an initial group of employees across Canada, the US, and the UK. This phase will generate valuable data to support the broader rollout of the platform.
Additionally, CIBC is rolling out GitHub Copilot to its developers. GitHub Copilot enhances coding efficiency by offering code suggestions, automating repetitive tasks, and improving overall productivity. The tool has been instrumental in speeding up development cycles and enhancing code quality.
“Pilot programs with GitHub Copilot have shown a 10-15% increase in productivity among our developers,” said Richard Jardim, Executive Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer at CIBC. “This boost in efficiency will allow us to deliver innovative solutions more quickly, ultimately improving the client experience.
