NatWest Group Names Solange Chamberlain as CEO of Retail Banking

NatWest Group has announced the appointment of Solange Chamberlain as the new Chief Executive Officer of its Retail Bank, effective 1st July, subject to regulatory approval.

In her new role, Chamberlain will report directly to Paul Thwaite, Chief Executive Officer of NatWest Group, and will join the Executive Committee of NatWest Holdings.

Paul Thwaite commented on the appointment, saying:

I’m delighted to welcome Solange as the new CEO of Retail at such a pivotal time for NatWest. She brings a deep understanding of the dynamic and competitive environment in which we operate. Her strategic insight, strong customer focus, and proven track record in transformation will be key as we drive forward our retail strategy.”

Chamberlain expressed her enthusiasm for the role:

It’s a privilege to lead NatWest’s retail bank at such an exciting time. With more than 18 million customers depending on both our leading digital capabilities and the dedication of our talented colleagues, we have a unique opportunity to deepen existing relationships and build new ones. I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Since joining NatWest in 2019, Chamberlain has held several senior roles, including Chief Operating Officer of the Commercial Bank—a role that later expanded to cover both Commercial and Institutional Banking following a division merger. In September 2023, she was appointed Director of Transition and Leadership, supporting Paul Thwaite during his interim and subsequent permanent CEO tenure.

Most recently, she has served as Group Director of Strategic Development and has been a member of the Group Executive Committee since April 2024.

Before joining NatWest, Chamberlain spent seven years at Lloyds Banking Group in various roles. She began her career in investment banking, holding positions at Citigroup, Perella Weinberg Partners, and Lazard.
