The Revival of the Puerto Rico Financial Services Forum: Leading the Way in International Banking and Insurance Hubs

The upcoming fourth edition of the Puerto Rico Financial Services Forum (FSF), recognized as the premier international financial and insurance conference in Puerto Rico, is set to take place on October 21 and 22, 2024, in San Juan. Bringing together a diverse array of local and international experts from the banking and insurance sectors, the event will delve into pressing issues such as compliance, financial crimes, regulations, and emerging opportunities, highlighting Puerto Rico’s status as a leading destination for international banks and insurers.

A wide range of timely topics will be covered, including Sustainable Insurance, Artificial Intelligence, Fintech, Cybersecurity, Anti-Money Laundering, updates from FinCEN, Cryptocurrency Regulations, Captive Insurance, and Success Stories in international banking and insurance, among others.

“This event is meticulously curated to provide attendees with the most up-to-date insights from esteemed industry professionals. Over the course of two days, we will explore pertinent themes and examine the potential benefits for businesses in Puerto Rico,” remarked a spokesperson.

The event, organized by the Puerto Rico International Banking Association (PRIBA) and the Puerto Rico International Insurance Association (PRIIA), anticipates the participation of over 40 experts, including notable figures such as Stephen Muldrow, U.S. Attorney District of Puerto Rico; Natalia I. Zequeira, Commissioner of Financial Institutions; Manuel Cidre, Secretary of the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce; and Ella Woger, CEO of Invest PR, alongside representatives from FBI, the Federal Reserve Board, and international insurance and banking entities.

Puerto Rico’s appeal as a hub for international banks and insurers stems from its alignment with the U.S. financial and legal framework, offering a stable business environment, a bilingual workforce, and robust infrastructure.

“In the face of rapid technological advancements, it is crucial to stay informed and leverage available resources when conducting business on a global scale. Through this event, we aim to equip our audience with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate investment opportunities on the island,” emphasized Eduardo Colón, President of the Puerto Rico International Banking Association.

Hugo Cordova, President of the Puerto Rico International Insurers Association (PRIIA), echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the event’s focus on providing attendees with the latest industry insights and opportunities for business growth.

The FSF, born out of the success of its inaugural edition as part of the Puerto Rico Investment Summit in 2019, has evolved into a key annual event for industry professionals.
