Synovus Financial Corp. (NYSE: SNV) has announced the appointment of Greg Montana, former Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at Fidelity National Information Services Inc. (FIS), to its board of directors. The appointment will be effective January 1, 2025, and Montana will serve on the board’s audit and risk committees. This addition brings the Synovus board to a total of 12 directors.

Montana brings over 25 years of leadership and risk management experience to Synovus. He retired from FIS in April 2023 after an 11-year tenure, during which he led teams responsible for managing risks across cybersecurity, operations, compliance, regulatory matters, ESG initiatives, business continuity, crisis management, and fraud prevention. His work encompassed all business segments, including banking, payments, and capital markets.
In addition to his professional achievements, Montana holds certifications as a Chief Information Security Officer and has served on boards for the Internet Security Alliance and the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center’s Sheltered Harbor initiative. He currently serves on the board of directors for United Way of Northeast Florida and is an active member and former board chair of Jacksonville Catholic Charities.
Montana earned his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree from Boston College.
