Republic Bank Expands Corporate Leadership Team

Republic Bank Expands Corporate Leadership Team with Two Key Appointments

Republic Bank & Trust Company is excited to announce the addition of two new members to its corporate leadership team. Cheryl VanAllen has been appointed as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief People Officer, while Courtney Eder will serve as Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Marketing Officer. These appointments reflect Republic’s commitment to strengthening its leadership bench with seasoned professionals who embody the Bank’s core values of client focus, associate engagement, and community involvement.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Cheryl and Courtney to the Republic family,” said Republic Bank President and CEO Logan Pichel. “Both bring incredible skill and invaluable experience to their new roles, and we’re proud to have them join our corporate team. Their focus on clients, associates, and the community strongly aligns with the Bank’s values.”

Cheryl VanAllen: EVP, Chief People Officer

Cheryl VanAllen joins Republic Bank from KFC US, where she most recently led talent strategy and people analytics. Her extensive career spans multiple industries, including leadership roles at Yum! Brands and UPS. Over the years, VanAllen has overseen talent acquisition, organizational development, learning and development, and a variety of other human resources functions. Her expertise lies in linking talent strategies with business objectives, fostering innovative and collaborative solutions that drive organizational success.

“Republic Bank has a distinct culture and passion for the people we serve, both internally and externally,” VanAllen said. “I’m thrilled to join such an involved leadership team and focus on expanding the Bank’s unique talent.”

VanAllen’s appointment coincides with the retirement of Margaret Wendler, Republic’s current EVP and Chief Human Resources Officer, who has served the Bank for 29 years. Wendler is working closely with VanAllen to ensure a smooth transition during this critical phase.

“Cheryl is a people-first professional who brings years of experience at large, multi-national organizations to Republic Bank,” Wendler said. “We’re eager to get her more involved with our talent operations and be the leader of our renowned workplace culture.”

Wendler’s legacy at Republic is one of dedication and excellence, and her contributions have been instrumental in shaping the Bank’s award-winning workplace culture. As she steps into retirement, the Bank expresses its gratitude for her decades of service and looks forward to building on her foundation under VanAllen’s leadership.

Courtney Eder: SVP, Chief Marketing Officer

Courtney Eder brings a wealth of strategic marketing expertise to Republic Bank, having made significant contributions to Walmart since 2011. At Walmart, Eder launched new brands in apparel, spearheaded marketing and customer experience initiatives for Pickup and Delivery services, and ultimately led brand and benefits marketing for Walmart+, the company’s membership program. Her ability to blend innovation with customer-centric strategies has earned her recognition as a dynamic marketing leader.

“Republic Bank and the Louisville community have been incredibly welcoming to me and my family,” Eder said. “I’m eager to continue transitioning into my new role, bringing a fresh perspective to the Bank’s marketing strategy.”

Eder will take over responsibilities from Jim Ensign, Republic’s current SVP and Chief Brand Officer, who will transition into an advisory role during Eder’s onboarding process. Ensign will also support special Bank projects before retiring later in 2025.

“Courtney’s already bringing new ideas to the table and will be a tremendous asset for Republic Bank as the company continues to build on its ongoing success,” Ensign said.

Ensign’s tenure at Republic has been marked by his dedication to elevating the Bank’s brand and fostering strong connections with clients and communities. His insights and mentorship will play a vital role in ensuring a seamless handover to Eder.

A Commitment to People, Clients, and Community

The appointments of Cheryl VanAllen and Courtney Eder underscore Republic Bank’s unwavering commitment to its people, clients, and the broader community. Both leaders bring a shared philosophy of prioritizing relationships and delivering exceptional value through collaboration and innovation.

Cheryl VanAllen: Elevating Workplace Culture

As EVP and Chief People Officer, VanAllen will focus on nurturing Republic’s unique workplace culture—a hallmark of the Bank’s identity. Known for its employee-centric approach, Republic has consistently ranked among the best places to work in the region. VanAllen’s background in talent strategy and organizational development positions her to further enhance the Bank’s reputation as an employer of choice.

Her vision includes expanding opportunities for professional growth, fostering diversity and inclusion, and ensuring that Republic remains a place where employees feel valued and empowered. By aligning talent strategies with business goals, VanAllen aims to position Republic for continued success in an ever-evolving financial landscape.

Courtney Eder: Transforming Marketing Strategy

As SVP and Chief Marketing Officer, Eder will lead Republic’s efforts to refine and expand its marketing initiatives. With a proven track record of launching innovative campaigns and enhancing customer experiences, Eder is poised to elevate the Bank’s brand presence and deepen its connection with clients.

Eder’s expertise in digital transformation and customer engagement will be particularly valuable as Republic seeks to adapt to changing consumer preferences and technological advancements. By leveraging data-driven insights and creative storytelling, she plans to position Republic as a trusted partner for individuals and businesses alike.

Building on a Legacy of Excellence

Republic Bank’s decision to appoint VanAllen and Eder reflects its proactive approach to leadership succession and organizational growth. As the Bank navigates an increasingly competitive and dynamic environment, these new leaders will play pivotal roles in driving innovation, enhancing client satisfaction, and reinforcing Republic’s status as a cornerstone of the communities it serves.

Margaret Wendler and Jim Ensign leave behind legacies of excellence and dedication, setting high standards for their successors. Their contributions have laid a solid foundation upon which VanAllen and Eder can build.

“We’re confident that Cheryl and Courtney will carry forward the values and traditions that define Republic Bank,” Pichel added. “Their leadership will help us continue to deliver exceptional service to our clients and create meaningful opportunities for our associates.”
