With the launch of the STKD Bitcoin & Gold ETF (BTGD) today, investors can now access two scarce assets—bitcoin and gold—through a single investment vehicle. This ETF offers potential protection against inflation and currency debasement by combining the strengths of both digital and physical currencies.
“We’re excited to bring this innovative fund to the market and look forward to engaging with advisors, institutions, and others to educate them on how combining exposure to bitcoin and gold can enhance a capital-efficient portfolio,” said the fund’s creators.
BTGD stands out by offering 100% exposure to both bitcoin and gold for every dollar invested. The bitcoin strategy aims to replicate the price movement of bitcoin through futures and exchange-traded products (ETPs), while the gold strategy similarly focuses on gold futures and ETPs to capture gold’s price return.
STKD, short for “Stacked,” is a licensed brand that partners with returnstackedetfs.com (co-owned by Newfound Research and Resolve Asset Management SEZC) and specializes in providing access to two assets simultaneously. This approach, referred to as “stacking,” builds on the concept of portable alpha, which layers two investments to potentially generate excess returns and diversify portfolios more effectively.
Since bitcoin’s emergence as a digital currency, a speculative asset, and a store of value, the debate has often centered on “bitcoin vs. gold.” However, this binary view misses the complementary roles both assets can play in a well-rounded portfolio, offering a balance of capital appreciation and hedging benefits.
BTGD, managed by Quantify Funds, is the first actively managed ETF to combine bitcoin and gold in a stacked approach, delivering more than $1 of exposure for every $1 invested.
“We’re pleased to partner with returnstackedetfs.com and key industry leaders such as Corey Hoffstein, Mike Philbrick, Rodrigo Gordillo, and Adam Butler to bring this innovative strategy to market in an ETF for the first time,” said David Dziekanski, CEO & CIO of Quantify Funds and one of the ETF’s portfolio managers.

It’s important to note that the Fund does not invest directly in bitcoin, gold, or their spot prices. Investors seeking direct exposure to bitcoin or gold should consider alternative investments.
