Muncy Columbia Financial Corporation Reports Second-Quarter 2026 Earnings Results

Muncy Columbia Financial Corporation Reports Strong Second-Quarter 2026 Earnings as Net Income Rises 24%

Muncy Columbia Financial Corporation, the parent company of Journey Bank, reported a significant improvement in financial performance for the second quarter of 2026, with higher net income, stronger net interest income, an expanded net interest margin, and improved asset quality.

The corporation, which trades on the OTCQX market under the ticker symbol CCFN, released its unaudited consolidated financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. The results showed continued progress in earnings and profitability compared with the same period a year earlier.

Net income for the second quarter of 2026 totaled $7.155 million, or $0.67 per share, compared with $5.768 million, or $0.54 per share, in the second quarter of 2025. The increase represents a year-over-year improvement of approximately 24%.

For the first six months of 2026, Muncy Columbia Financial Corporation reported net income of $14.311 million, or $1.35 per share. This compares with net income of $10.113 million, or $0.95 per share, during the first six months of 2025.

The company’s profitability metrics also improved during the quarter. Return on average assets reached 1.70% in the second quarter of 2026, compared with 1.44% in the same quarter of 2025. Return on average equity increased to 14.65% from 13.33%.

The improved earnings performance was supported by higher net interest income, a wider net interest margin, growth in loans, and continued balance sheet strength.

Net Interest Income Benefits from Improved Margin

Net interest income was $16.769 million in the second quarter of 2026, an increase of $1.961 million from $14.808 million in the second quarter of 2025.

The increase was driven by a $1.737 million rise in total interest and dividend income, combined with a $224,000 reduction in total interest expense.

The fully tax-equivalent net interest margin increased to 4.37% in the second quarter of 2026 from 4.04% in the second quarter of 2025.

The improvement in net interest margin reflects the corporation’s ability to generate stronger returns from its earning assets while managing the cost of its funding sources. Net interest margin remains one of the most important performance indicators for community banks because it measures the difference between interest earned on loans and investments and interest paid on deposits and borrowings.

The stronger margin contributed meaningfully to the year-over-year increase in net interest income and helped support the company’s overall earnings growth.

Provision for Credit Losses Increases Moderately

Muncy Columbia Financial Corporation recorded a $394,000 provision for credit losses during the second quarter of 2026, compared with a $254,000 provision in the second quarter of 2025.

Although the provision increased year over year, the allowance for credit losses remained stable relative to total loans. The allowance for credit losses as a percentage of total loans was 0.85% at both June 30, 2026, and December 31, 2025.

The stable allowance ratio indicates that the company continued to maintain a consistent reserve position relative to its loan portfolio.

Credit quality also improved substantially during the first half of the year. Total nonperforming assets declined to $8.881 million as of June 30, 2026, from $11.978 million at December 31, 2025.

As a percentage of total assets, nonperforming assets declined to 0.53% from 0.72%.

The improvement was primarily driven by a reduction in non-accrual loans, which declined from $11.523 million at the end of 2025 to $8.881 million at June 30, 2026.

The reduction in nonperforming assets represents a positive development for the corporation and reflects an improvement in the overall quality of its loan portfolio.

Noninterest Income Increases Despite Securities Losses

Total noninterest income increased to $2.560 million in the second quarter of 2026, compared with $2.237 million in the second quarter of 2025.

The $323,000 year-over-year increase occurred despite a significant increase in realized losses on available-for-sale debt securities.

Realized losses on available-for-sale debt securities, net, totaled $1.445 million during the second quarter of 2026, compared with $426,000 in the second quarter of 2025.

The impact of these losses was offset by several other items. The corporation recognized $605,000 in one-time gains related to bank-owned life insurance claims during the second quarter.

In addition, other noninterest income increased by $400,000, primarily due to incentives received under Journey Bank’s debit card processing contract during the quarter.

These gains helped offset the higher realized losses from available-for-sale securities and contributed to the overall increase in noninterest income.

The performance demonstrates the impact that individual noninterest income categories can have on quarterly results. While securities gains and losses may fluctuate depending on market conditions, recurring sources of income such as card processing activities and other banking services can provide additional revenue diversification.

Noninterest Expenses Rise

Total noninterest expense increased by $564,000 to $10.420 million in the second quarter of 2026, compared with $9.856 million in the second quarter of 2025.

The largest contributor to the increase was salaries and employee benefits expense.

Salaries and employee benefits totaled $5.580 million in the second quarter of 2026, up $596,000 from $4.984 million in the same period of 2025.

The increase was primarily associated with higher health insurance expenses under the corporation’s partially self-funded health insurance plan. Health insurance costs were $316,000 higher in the second quarter of 2026 than in the comparable period of 2025.

Ongoing salary and wage increases for employees also contributed to the increase.

The rise in personnel-related expenses was partially offset by a $116,000 decrease in data processing and telecommunications expenses.

The reduction was primarily due to one-time charges incurred during the second quarter of 2025 in connection with the implementation of new products.

Despite higher operating expenses, the corporation generated stronger earnings as the increase in net interest income and other revenue more than offset the rise in expenses.

Balance Sheet Remains Stable

Total assets stood at $1.672 billion as of June 30, 2026, compared with $1.673 billion at December 31, 2025.

While overall assets remained relatively stable, the composition of the balance sheet changed during the first six months of the year.

Cash and cash equivalents decreased by $28.396 million, while loans receivable held for investment increased by $28.603 million.

The shift reflects the corporation’s continued focus on deploying capital into its loan portfolio while maintaining a strong overall balance sheet.

Total liabilities amounted to $1.474 billion at June 30, 2026, compared with $1.481 billion at the end of 2025.

Total deposits increased by $20.843 million during the first six months of 2026.

Short-term borrowings increased by $11.841 million, while long-term borrowings decreased by $40.584 million.

During the second quarter, the corporation prepaid all of its outstanding long-term Federal Home Loan Bank borrowings.

The repayment of long-term FHLB borrowings represents a notable balance sheet development and reflects the company’s ongoing management of its funding structure and liabilities.

Capital Position Strengthens

Muncy Columbia Financial Corporation continued to maintain a strong capital position during the second quarter.

Total stockholders’ equity equated to a book value per share of $18.72 as of June 30, 2026, compared with $18.15 at December 31, 2025.

The corporation’s equity-to-assets ratio increased to 11.88% from 11.51% at the end of 2025.

The stronger capital ratio provides the company with additional financial flexibility as it continues to support loan growth, manage credit risk, and invest in its banking operations.

A strong capital position is particularly important for community banks because it provides a foundation for future growth while helping the institution absorb potential financial pressures.

Dividend Activity

The corporation continued to return capital to shareholders through cash dividends.

During the second quarter of 2026, total cash dividends of $0.155 per share were declared, compared with $0.317 per share during the same period of 2025.

For the six months ended June 30, 2026, total cash dividends declared totaled $0.642 per share, compared with $0.467 per share for the first six months of 2025.

The year-over-year comparison was affected by special one-time dividends. The six-month 2026 period included a special one-time dividend of $0.333 per share, while the comparable period in 2025 included a special one-time dividend of $0.167 per share.

Dividend activity remains an important part of the corporation’s approach to shareholder returns. At the same time, the company must balance dividend payments with the need to maintain sufficient capital to support its banking operations and future growth.

Three-for-One Stock Split Completed

Muncy Columbia Financial Corporation also completed a three-for-one stock split during the second quarter of 2026.

On April 23, 2026, the corporation’s Board of Directors approved the stock split in the form of a 200% stock dividend on outstanding common shares.

Shareholders of record as of the close of business on May 7, 2026, received two additional shares of common stock for every share they held. The stock dividend became effective on May 15, 2026.

The stock split was paid using authorized but previously unissued shares of the corporation’s common stock.

The par value of the corporation’s common stock remained unchanged at $1.25 per share.

All share and per-share figures included in the company’s financial results have been adjusted to reflect the three-for-one stock split.

Stock splits do not change the underlying value of a shareholder’s total investment at the time of the split. Instead, the number of shares increases while the per-share value is adjusted accordingly. However, stock splits can improve the accessibility of a company’s shares and may broaden participation among investors.

Stronger First Half Provides Positive Momentum

Muncy Columbia Financial Corporation’s second-quarter results reflect a period of improved earnings and profitability, supported by stronger net interest income and a wider net interest margin.

The company also benefited from improved credit quality, with nonperforming assets declining significantly during the first half of 2026.

At the same time, the corporation continued to manage its balance sheet carefully. Loans increased while cash balances declined, deposits grew, and long-term borrowings were reduced through the repayment of outstanding FHLB obligations.

The company’s capital position also strengthened, with the equity-to-assets ratio increasing to 11.88% and book value per share rising to $18.72.

Although operating expenses increased, particularly due to higher employee benefits and compensation costs, the corporation’s revenue performance supported strong overall earnings growth.

Journey Bank’s performance also demonstrates the importance of maintaining diversified sources of revenue. In the second quarter, higher net interest income was complemented by gains related to bank-owned life insurance claims and debit card processing incentives.

Meanwhile, improved credit quality helped offset the risks associated with a changing economic and interest rate environment.

With net income increasing substantially from the prior-year period, net interest margin expanding, nonperforming assets declining, and capital levels remaining strong, Muncy Columbia Financial Corporation enters the second half of 2026 from a position of financial strength.

The corporation’s continued focus on loan growth, credit quality, expense management, capital preservation, and shareholder returns will remain important as it navigates evolving banking market conditions.

The second-quarter results highlight the company’s progress during the first half of 2026 and reinforce its position as a well-capitalized financial institution focused on supporting customers, managing risk, and generating long-term value for shareholders.
