Redfin, known for its innovative approach to real estate, has introduced Ask Redfin, a beta version of its AI-powered virtual assistant designed to assist homebuyers with inquiries about properties listed for sale. Through the Ask Redfin tool, house hunters can quickly access essential information about listings, such as upcoming open houses, monthly homeowners association fees, school districts, and more. This feature is accessible to anyone using the Redfin iPhone app in the U.S. who opts into the Ask Redfin beta.
According to Redfin, the introduction of Ask Redfin aims to streamline the homebuying process by providing users with easy access to pertinent details about listings, local market conditions, nearby schools, and touring availability. The virtual assistant is capable of answering questions about various aspects of a home, including amenities, market conditions, and zoning regulations. Additionally, Ask Redfin is integrated with Redfin’s support team, ensuring that users can quickly connect with licensed real estate agents for further assistance.
Dallas Redfin Premier Agent Casi Fricks expressed optimism about the impact of Ask Redfin on homebuyers, stating, “Ask Redfin will be an asset to buyers looking for fast answers 24/7.” Fricks emphasized that users can easily transition to speaking with a real estate agent if they require additional expertise or guidance.
Ask Redfin utilizes large language models to access publicly available information about a listing and provide accurate responses to user queries. Ariel Dos Santos, Redfin Senior Vice President of Product and Design, highlighted the tool’s ability to offer comprehensive insights into properties, stating, “Ask Redfin makes it easy and effortless for customers to find the information they want to know.”
The feature is currently available to users of the latest version of the Redfin iPhone app in select U.S. metropolitan areas. Users outside of these areas can opt into the Ask Redfin beta by accessing the My Redfin section of the app and selecting “Try Ask Redfin.” Redfin plans to expand the availability of Ask Redfin to more markets and platforms in the future.
