The Church Pension Group (CPG), a financial services organization dedicated to serving The Episcopal Church, has announced the appointment of Rev. Canon Arlette Benoit Joseph as Executive Vice President and Chief Church Relations Officer (CCRO), effective upon the retirement of Rev. Clayton Crawley on December 31, 2024.
“I want to thank Clayton for his leadership and service over the past 25 years and the indelible mark he has left on our organization,” said Mary Kate Wold, CPG’s Chief Executive Officer and President.
As CCRO, Canon Benoit Joseph will continue CPG’s relational efforts with the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society, General Convention, and various other groups and stakeholders within the Church. She will also serve on CPG’s Executive Leadership Team and report directly to Ms. Wold.
“I am pleased to announce Arlette’s appointment as our Chief Church Relations Officer,” said Ms. Wold. “She already has many strong relationships around the Church, which helps us maintain trust with the people and institutions we serve. I look forward to her bringing fresh insights to CPG and the Church we serve.”
Canon Benoit Joseph joined CPG in 2023 as Senior Vice President and Church Relations Officer within the Church Relations Group. Prior to her role at CPG, she served as Canon for Transition Ministry in the Diocese of Pennsylvania and held positions in the Diocese of New York at Trinity Church Wall Street, the Diocese of Atlanta at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and the Absalom Jones Center in Atlanta. Before her ordination, she worked as a Marketing Analyst for United Parcel Service. She graduated with honors from Claflin University with a BA in Marketing and holds a Master of Divinity and a certificate in Spiritual Direction from the General Theological Seminary.
“I want to thank Clayton for his leadership and service over the past 25 years and the indelible mark he has left on our organization,” Ms. Wold continued. “Clayton has been instrumental in the significant growth of our technology and church relations functions. After serving as our Chief Information Officer for many years, he transitioned to the role of Chief Church Relations Officer and has played a critical part in helping us fulfill our mission to support clergy and lay employees of The Episcopal Church in their calling to spread the gospel. I wish him the very best as he retires at the end of this year.”
