BNP Paribas and Mistral AI have signed a multi-year partnership to provide access to Mistral AI’s current and future commercial models across all BNP Paribas business lines. This partnership builds on an initial collaboration that began in September 2023 with the bank’s Global Markets division. The successful results of this initial engagement led to an expanded collaboration in February 2024, with BNP Paribas piloting Mistral AI models in various divisions.
BNP Paribas is leveraging Mistral AI’s Large Language Models to develop use cases across customer support, sales, IT, and other areas. Mistral AI’s offerings complement the needs of highly regulated institutions, enabling controlled deployment of advanced models on-premises. Additionally, Mistral AI focuses on delivering energy-efficient, scalable models.
“Our collaboration with BNP Paribas signifies a strong leap towards making AI accessible for all,” said Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral AI. “We are integrating our generative AI models into the banking ecosystem, and I look forward to expanding our partnership to develop innovative use cases in financial services.”
“This agreement with Mistral AI is a major milestone in our digital strategy,” said Olivier Osty, Head of BNP Paribas Global Markets. “Generative AI has significant potential to enhance our client offerings across sales, trading, and research, and we are excited to continue our work with Mistral AI.”
“This partnership marks a step forward in developing hyper-personalized digital services for our customers,” said Sophie Heller, COO at BNP Paribas Commercial, Personal Banking & Services. “Generative AI will enable us to launch high-quality virtual assistants for 24/7 customer support and simplify processes, combining the latest technology with our commitment to security.”
