Andrew Barnes Appointed to Lead Military and Veteran Segment at Wells Fargo Commercial Banking

Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) has announced the appointment of Andrew Barnes as the inaugural Military and Veteran Segment Leader within its Commercial Banking Diverse Segments team.

In this new role, Barnes will focus on supporting veteran-owned and -led middle market businesses, providing them with access to capital and Wells Fargo’s extensive resources to foster growth and wealth-building. He will also be responsible for forging new partnerships and generating insights for prospective and current clients.

Barnes brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served eight years in the United States Navy Reserve and spent 25 years with Wells Fargo. His career includes significant contributions to talent acquisition and the development of Wells Fargo’s Military National Partnership strategy, through which he helped hire over 12,000 military veterans. He also led efforts to create a resource center aimed at educating veteran employees on various benefits and development programs.

Barnes has established strong ties with national veteran organizations such as Veterans Bridge Home, Military Warriors Support Foundation, Hiring Our Heroes, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Student Veterans of America, and the Institute for Veterans and Military Families.

In addition to his role at Wells Fargo, Barnes founded the Appalachian Warrior Foundation, which supports military veterans and related organizations. He also established a scholarship fund in memory of his father, in partnership with Wytheville Community College in his hometown of Wytheville, Virginia.

Barnes expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “My career has been dedicated to building connections within the military community. I am eager to leverage my experience and Wells Fargo’s resources to deepen relationships with veteran-owned and -led businesses.”
